I have to say something here. These guys were really nice but came here to get that Missing Soldier back home. They just found nothing because it was rainy, muddy it was over 6 ft. cold water in the hole in which that P-38 buried itself and all around the place there was aver 2 ft. mud. They searched for 2 days then they decided to get back to Germany without any evidences of the presence of a body inside the wreck. When they were gone I decided to get that soldier myself out of this horrible grave and I did. I did all this job and after a week I’ve finally found 1 boot, the still packed parachute, and parts of the bail out kit. Inside the boots, I’ve found the socks and inside the socks, the remains (bones) of this unknown hero.
I called Mike and some day later he picked up the boots and the bones. I was feeling great because I was able to get enough of this Pilot to get him buried. Unfortunately I never got news on this and never heard about the end of the story for this missing soldier.
