It is with as heavy heart and my deepest sympathy that we belatedly learn of the passing of another of our Distinguished Veterans and a Valued Comrade. In a phone call from Ralph Larsen to Gene Hermann we learned that his Father, Mr. Lauren B. Larsen, Hq 2, 193rd GIR, passed away on 3 January 2009. With an assist from Gene Hermann, Ed Siergiej and the Cavallin Funeral Home I was able to contact the Family to obtain the information for this message.

Should you wanting to get US Army WW-2 Helmets M-1 or M-2 (I don’t deal with M-1C) you can now re-order them right on my website as I have worked with the manufacturer of these original but refurbished helmets in the past (2001-2006) and I have decided to re-start this business because lot of Museums all around the Globe are still searching for helmets.

The rest of that day is history. Personally, I spent it praying for the invaders … and, like the rest of his official family, aching with sympathy for our apprehensive Boss.
Gen Eisenhower stood the appalling strain for another day. Then, in the early morning of June 7 it was 0720-H, just twenty-six hours after H-Hour he left for Normandy’s beaches. I fled to the lonely comfort of our trailer-headquarters. Working on the General’s “fan mail” never seemed so difficult, so unimportant; but it helped smother worries.

I am not sure but this post may be a double post because I have the feeling I have already posted it. One thing I am sure about is that I didn’t post the original photos online. So if or not, here are the original photos sent to me by a relative of Raymond Crisp, as well as what happen to photos and documents sent to me by Veterans or relatives.

I am thinking about re-doing the maximum of World War Two photos I will be able to identify. I have already several 100 photos to do but if you have World War Two photos (NA-TO or ETO) send me good scans and I will try to get other friends at it to in South France or Italy.
Here is a “Then & Now” photo of the Hotel des Bruyères in the center of Francorchamps. Photos, the Hotel on January 26 1945 and November 11 2009. Note that the hotel is located 500 meters from the Race Track.
