My name is [xxxx xxxx] and I am the great grandchild of Mrs. Robert from Barneville in France (Normandy) which accommodated General EISENHOWER and General PATTON during the WWII invasion in June 1944. My great-grandmother had a small hotel with restaurant and could therefore receive a group of american officers for about 2 weeks.
The White House wrote our familiy a personal letter of thanks after the war – of course we still have this letter in our family archive.

There are many oral tradition stories to tell about the stay of the Eisenhower, Patton and their Staffs :
- the obligatory doorplates for the rooms of Eisenhower (we still have the brass plates)
- breakfast habitudes of General Patton
- the personal dressmaker of General Patton – we still have the original ironing board
- our still existent piano – which was rolled out of the restaurant by GI’s nearly every day to play on the village square
- the excellent and admired cooking of my great-grandmother by the Amercian soldiers …

BUT Unfortunately we do NOT have one single photograph or picture showing the liberators and my great-grandmother in or in front of our former hotel. My question therefore : Does your archive have pictures of that time ? I am convinced that Eisenhower or Patton had photo-reporters traveling with them and who documented every single movement of them.
Our family would highly appreciate your answer and of course we would be very grateful if you can find convenient pictures of our ancestors.

Kindest regards
[xxxx xxxx]
